![]() “Order-to-delivery timing provided by manufacturers generally held true for a majority of the 2018 model-year vehicles and for many, were comparable to 2017 models. The survey methodology calculated OTD times for cars from the day an order was placed with a factory to vehicle delivery to a dealer (not driver pickup). Almost all vehicle lines were delivered, on average, within or ahead of the OEMs posted lead time. Similar to last year, 2018 order-to-delivery timeframes for most passenger car and crossover models remained relatively flat with delivery times for some models decreasing. Close Look at 2018 Order-to-Delivery Times The days spent at an upfitter were not included in truck OTD times. Truck OTD was calculated from order placement to delivery to an upfitter or, if no upfitting was required, to a dealer. The AF OTD survey tracked deliveries of approximately 208,607 new vehicles in the 2018 model-year, representing 102 different models. These were among some of the many findings that were revealed by Automotive Fleet’s 19th annual OTD survey, which is based on data and analyses provided by nine fleet management company (FMC) survey partners that included ARI, Donlen, Element Fleet Management, Emkay, Enterprise Fleet Management, LeasePlan USA, Merchants Fleet Management, Mike Albert Fleet Solutions, and Wheels Inc. “Import SUVs, vans, and trucks were not as consistent due to greater retail and fleet demand for these models.” “We did see consistent or decreased lead times on many import manufacturer vehicle lines – particularly sedans,” said Krams. This observation was reinforced by Krams of Wheels. “The biggest delays we encountered were for pickup trucks, cab chassis, and cargo vans.” ![]() This gives them the ability to match a pre-ordered vehicle to a new order, which ultimately reduces the lead-time,” said Cindy Gomez, VP of vehicle acquisition services for Donlen. I attribute this primarily to their process in evaluating past fleet orders and pre-ordering vehicles, along with the ability to be flexible to make minor changes to the vehicles. “We saw an improvement in order-to-delivery times for the import OEMs specifically Subaru, Toyota, and Hyundai. “We did see quality holds on some models after plant downtime - particularly the Chevrolet Malibu - but overall delays were minimal resulting in only slightly increased order-to-delivery times over last year.”Īnother positive development was that import-badged models showed solid OTD improvements in 2018. ![]() If conditions allow, sustainable, carbon-neutral post and parcel services can become a reality Germany-wide in the course of the next few years.“Delays on new or redesigned models were minimal this year as were quality-related holds overall,” said Jessica Krams, manager, vehicle order management for Wheels, Inc. Deliveries in over 50% of our delivery districts are now carbon-free, and our overall emissions are well below those of competitors. “We currently have the largest e-fleet in the logistics sector. “In the course of the last twelve months, we’ve become even more climate-friendly across all of our logistics services – from our product portfolio to shipping, from our buildings to last-mile delivery,” says Tobias Meyer, CEO Post & Parcel Germany at Deutsche Post DHL Group. In addition, the company is now offering a new portfolio of “GoGreen Plus” products, offering customers the chance to proactively manage and reduce their carbon footprint by choosing climate-friendly shipment by rail. Over the next two years, Post & Parcel Germany will be acquiring more than 400 (bio)gas-powered trucks to make transporting shipments between mail and parcel centers greener. These include carbon-free delivery depots – 100 of which are scheduled for completion at the end of this year. Deutsche Post DHL is also investing a similarly large amount in the construction and refurbishing of climate-friendly operating sites. To showcase that the yellow brand is becoming greener, Deutsche Post today added the 20,000th e-vehicle to its delivery fleet, this time in Berlin.ĭeutsche Post and DHL Parcel Germany’s budget allocated for this year alone in e-mobility amounts to EUR 300 million. A year ago, Deutsche Post DHL Group, presented its Sustainability Roadmap and announced how Post & Parcel Germany plans to become more climate-friendly in its German operations.
